DAY 01: ARRIVE GUWAHATI TRANSFER TO SHILLONG

Upon arrival at Guwahati, welcomed by our representative and board the transport. Transfer to Shillong the capital city of Meghalaya. (Guwahati – 99kms / 3hrs). 

On the way, visit the placid Umiam Lake, outlined by Sylvan hills.  Enjoy the scenic expanses throughout the way. On arrival check into Hotel. Enjoy the evening at leisure on your own.

DAY 02: DAY TRIP TO MAWLYNNONG & DAWAKI

Have your breakfast at the hotel and check out. 

Today visit Mawlynnong Village that is credited for being the cleanest village in Asia. Here, visit the Living Root Bridge and watch the natural balancing rock that presents a peculiar natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. Don’t miss put on the sight of the Indo-Bangladesh Border from here.

Now, head to Dawki – a town located in East Jaintia Hills. En route, the gurgling waterfalls present an enthralling sight. In the town, you will be greeted by the Umngot River, which is believed to be the cleanest of the country and had crystal clear waters. A boat ride on these waters is an amazing experience. 

After an enjoyable day, return to the hotel in Shillong for a peaceful sleep.

DAY 03: SHILLONG TO CHERAPUNJEE

Have your breakfast at the hotel and check out. 

Now, set out to Cherrapunji (54kms / 2hrs)– the wettest place on earth, second to Mawsynram.

On the way, visit Mawkdok Valley – a very prominent sightseeing spot. Nohsngithiang Falls (Seven Sisters Falls) is the next attraction on the way. The falls are an epitome of the Unity of the Seven States of North East India, thus the name.

Up next are Mawsmai Cave and Eco Park. From Eco Park, you also catch a glimpse of the Sylhet Plains of neighboring Bangladesh. Enjoying the scenic route, you will reach Cherrapunji. 

Check in to the hotel and relax on your own. A restful sleep.

DAY 04: CHERAPUNJEE

Have your breakfast at the Hotel.

Today you will enjoy the village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the Living Root Bridge at a neighboring village Riwai (Nongriat).

Evening at leisure on own.

DAY 05: CHERAPUNJEE TO SHILLONG

Have your breakfast at Hotel, check out.

Transfer to Shillong – En route, you will visit myriad attractions of Shillong. Begin with the highest point of the capital city – Shillong Peak. Now, you will visit Elephant Falls, Ward’s Lake, and Cathedral Catholic Church. 

Afternoon check-in to the hotel and free time for leisure. 

DAY 06: SHILLONG TO GUWAHATI

Have your breakfast and check out. 

Transfer to Guwahati. After reaching Guwahati, you have the day at leisure, so that you can spend an evening at your pace and your terms. The day ends with a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel in Guwahati.

DAY 07: DEPARTURE GUWAHATI

After breakfast check out & on-time transfer to Airport/station for onward destination.

And in Guwahati preferred to take an afternoon/evening departure so after early breakfast you can make a visit to KAMAKHAYA TEMPLE – also known as Kamrup-Kamakhya temple, which is a Sakta temple dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya. It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas.

Mawlynnong is a small village situated around 90 km from Shillong in the East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, and is also known as God’s own Garden. It was declared as the cleanest village in Asia in 2003 by Discovery India which certainly makes it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Indian state. Mawlynnong village is a community-based eco-tourism initiative where the entire community made collective efforts in making and maintaining the cleanliness of the village.

Mawlynnong offers some of the most picturesque natural beauty with lush green valleys, crystal clear water in the river, an abundance of flowering orchids hanging from the trees, and extremely clean roads that make this small village a worth visiting destination for tourists visiting Meghalaya.

DAWAKI

small border town in the Jaintia Hills, Dawki, and its famed river Umngot or the Dwaki River is a must-visit if in Meghalaya. Sandwiched between India and Bangladesh, Dawki is a major center of trade between India and Bangladesh. The small city, besides being a trade hub is also famous for its tourism scene, with many people flocking to the town to experience a boat ride in its famed Umngot River and enjoy the nearby sights and sounds.

The city becomes a hotbed of tourist activities especially during the spring months as it hosts the boat riding competition on the Umngot River. The surrounding greenery, the cold water of the river, and the beautiful suspension bridge on the River Umngot make Dawki a place worth a visit.

JOWAI:

Located in the Jaintia Hills district, Jowai located at a distance of 66 km from Shillong, is famous for its bucolic setting and breathtaking views with the perfect mix of heritage and culture. Jowai, much like Cherrapunji prides itself on being a destination much loved for a scenic drive and boasting of lakes, vast open valleys, and waterfalls. The Thadlaskein Lake and Lalong Park are the famous tourist hot spots while Syntu Ksiar is also a popular destination on the shores of river Myntdu. CHERRAPUNJI

DOUBLE DECKER LIVING ROOT

Hidden deep in the lush, green forests of the wettest place in India: Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya; one can find the magnificent Jingkieng Nongriat Double Decker Living Root Bridge; more commonly known as the Umshiang Double Decker Living Root Bridge or simply just the Double Decker Root Bridge.  This area is famous for root bridges made of Indian Rubber Tree, but the Double Decker Bridge is the most famous of all due to its large size. It is 3 kilometers long and placed at a height of 2400 feet! A unique attraction and quite an innovative mix of nature and engineering. The Umshiang River flows beneath the bridge.

MAWSYNRAM

Acknowledged as the wettest place in the world, the mesmerizing village of Mawsynram, located 61 km south of Shillong is a nature lover’s delight and the perfect destination for a weekend trip. Mawsynram trounces Cherrapunjee by a slight margin in being the wettest place in India.

The ‘Maw’ in Mawsynram is a Khasi word meaning ‘stone’. It symbolizes the unique megaliths unearthed in the Khasi Hill area.
